We are pleased that you are inquiring about holding your wedding at East Congregational Church. Your wedding day is a very significant day in your life and a sacred ministry of our church. Experience suggests that certain guidelines will help insure this event will be special and meaningful to you!
BOOKING YOUR DATE
When you have decided that you are ready to book your wedding date at East Church, you should contact the church office. The office staff can answer your questions about procedures, fees, and policies. In order for your date to be placed on the church ca lender, a non-refundable $200.00 deposit is required. The remaining fees are payable in advance and must be paid in full a week prior to the wedding. There is also a short information sheet for the couple to complete, located in the church office. Early reservations assure availability of the facility for the date and time desired.
CHURCH STAFF
Because a service of marriage is considered a part of the ministry of East Church, it is expected that one of our ministers will officiate at any wedding scheduled in our sanctuary.
Outside ministers are allowed to perform marriage ceremonies in the Klise Chapel only.
The couple should expect to meet with the officiating minister at least twice in preparation for the wedding. Appointments for this should be made by the couple directly with the minister. When you book your wedding, a Wedding Hostess will be assigned to you. She will assist you in planning and arranging details of the wedding. Your Wedding Hostess will be present and in charge at your rehearsal and wedding. She should be contacted three to four months prior to the wedding date. Wedding rehearsals are typically scheduled the evening before the wedding and last a maximum of one hour, which has proven an adequate amount of time for even the largest wedding parties. Please make sure your party is on time for both the rehearsal and the wedding service.
MUSIC
Music plays another integral role in making your wedding day memorable. The East Church sanctuary houses a grand pipe organ and a concert grand piano, both of which may be used for wedding services at East Church. Should you wish to use one of the East Church musicians, please call the church office to schedule an appointment with the organist to discuss and select the music you wish to use.
