ICCF Partnership

Work has begun on the ICCF Home. New plumbing, heating and electric services are going in at this time. These items are done by contractors under ICCF supervision.

On Saturday, March 31, 11 volunteers gathered with rakes, shovels and brooms to clean up the yard.  We were also able to take a tour of the inside of the house and got a feel for the amount of work that needs to be done.  See the photos below for outdoor and indoor views of 1056 Calvin SE.

We will be getting ready for the open house on April 22nd after church. We will have our coffee at the house and the neighborhood will be invited. This will give everyone a chance to see the home before we begin.   Our start date will be around the middle of May.

I am still in need of people to chair two committees for this project. The Hospitality Committee which will provide beverages, snacks, and/or meals for the volunteers at the work site and the Communication Committee which will take pictures, maintain a web site, keep up the bulletin board in church, and write thank you notes. These two committees are vital to our success and if you would be willing to chair or co-chair these committees please call Mike Holton at 616-365-9411 or mholton1947@gmail.com.

As of Monday, March 26, 2007 we have raised $6,155.00 of the $10,000.00 that we have pledged to ICCF as our share of this partnership. Thank you very much to those of you that have given so generously. It is our hope to have raised the entire pledge by the time we begin work so if you have not turned in your offering please consider doing so.

The East Church Partnership house is at 1056 Calvin.

Dick found lots of last year's leaves that needed to be raked.

Kelly, Dick, Mike and Rosanne make quick work of a big job.

Kelly replaces dirt that had washed into the driveway.

Jane, Dave and Mike fill one of the many bags of debris removed from the yard.

Steve, Jack, Mike, Nancy, Kelly, Marilyn, Jane, Dave and Rosanne wonder if the original oak flooring can be restored.

Looks like the fireplace flue will need a good cleaning!

This small downstairs bath has been completely gutted by ICCF.

Can you date the house from this dining room wallpaper?

The kitchen is also ready for the ICCF crew to add new plumbing, heating and electrical.

The smallest of the 3 bedrooms was used as a darkroom by the previous owner.  When finished it will make a great baby's room.

The hardwood floor in the master bedroom looks pretty good, but dips and bumps would make a sleepwalker seasick.

Watch for more photos as the project progresses.
