Kay A. Smith

Children and Worship Coordinator (and Administrative Assistant)

Kay has been involved in the Worship Center Format of Christian Education since 1989. She trained first with Collette Volkma DeNooyer, then later under Sonja M. Stewart. Before coming to East Church in 1999, Kay had begun programs in several Methodist churches in the area. With her passion for the Story and love of children, this is hardly a job for her. Kay is also a certified teacher of the Bethel Bible Series and is in her fourth and final year of Education for Ministry, an extension program offered through the University of the South at Swanee, TN. She also continues to do course work through the Dominican Center of Grand Rapids.

In the summer of 2007, Kay also began to work in the church office. She now job shares the Administrative Assistant position with Kathy Beamen. Kay lives in Grand Rapids and has two grown children.
